Description

The Fifty Point Conservation Area is located about 8 nm east of Hamilton Harbour, and 25 nm west of Niagara on the south shore of the lake. This 190 acre park has everything that you would expect from a conservation area, including camping, picnic areas, hiking trails, and fishing. You can fish in Lake Ontario, or in the stocked fishing pond for rainbow trout and bass.

When you leave your boat, take your binoculars with you, because the conservation area is a popular bird watching destination, with over 200 species documented in the park, and 65 species known to nest there. If you’re patient, and a bit lucky, you may spot some hard to find birds like the Northern Saw-whet Owl, King Eider, Purple sandpiper, or Great Horned Owl. See the conservation area’s bird of the week page for more species to look for.

After a long day of out-dorsy stuff, some may be comforted knowing that WIFI coverage is available at the docks. Others may be comforted by the close proximity of over 50 wineries, starting with Kittling Ridge, just 6 mi away from the conservation area.

Venturing from the conservation area, there are many attractions in the Hamilton and Niagara region. The Hamilton Ramada site has a great list.
